2004 Fall Calendar for meetings and field trips

Details for the events listed below may change. Please check the list shortly before each event, especially the field trips.

Unless otherwise noted, all regular meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Room 201 in the State College Borough Building on South Allen Sreet, State College, PA.

September 12, 2004 (Sunday)
**Field Trip: Scotia Barrens: Fall migrants
7:15 a.m. to mid morning
Carpoolers meet at the Omega Bank at the Westerly Parkway shopping center and depart at 7:15 a.m. to arrive at the second entrance to Scotia Pond in the Barrens at 7:20.

September 19, 2004 (Sunday)
** Field Trip: Stone Mountain Hawk Watch: Broadwings
12:00 p.m. to late afternoon
Carpoolers meet at the Omega Bank at the Westerly Parkway shopping center by 12:00 p.m.

September 22, 2004 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. State College Municipal Building,
Program: Our guest speaker will be Molly Hetrick, the Recreation Supervisor at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, she will talk on the new programs and activities at Millbrook Marsh.

September 25, 2004 (Saturday) or Rain date - September 26 (Sunday)
** Field Trip: Big Flat/Indian Wells Overlook: Fall migrants
7:00 a.m. to late morning.
Carpoolers meet at the parking lot at Whipple Dam State Park by 7:15 a.m.

** Field Trip: Stone Mountain Hawk Watch: Accipiters and Falcons

** Fuller Tour Trip: Montezuma Wildlife Refuge: Ducks and wine

7:00 p.m. State College Municipal Building,
Program: Our guest speaker will be Matt Marshall, Graduate Student at Penn State, will talk on Henslow's and Grasshopper sparrow research project.

November 7, 2004 (Sunday)
** Field Trip: Bald Eagle State Park: Waterfowl and winter birds such as Rough-legged Hawks and Snow Buntings
7:30 a.m. to noon
Meet at the Omega Bank at the Westerly Parkway shopping center by 7:30 a.m. for carpooling over to the McDonald's restaurant near the I-80 Milesburg exit at 8 AM. The group will then visit Curtin Wetlands and Bald Eagle State Park.

Program: Planning session for the Christmas Bird Counts and anyone who comes is welcome to bring a holiday snack to share.
