2006 Fall Calendar for meetings and field trips

Details for the events listed below may change. Please check the list shortly before each event, especially the field trips.

CHANGE OF MEETING LOCATION: Starting in September 2006, all regular meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room at Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 South Allen Sreet, State College, PA EXCEPT for the December meeting.

September 27, 2006 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. Schlow Centre Region Library, Meeting Room
Program: Our guest speaker will be Kim Van Fleet, Pennsylvania Audubon, who will talk about Wind Farms.

October 25, 2006 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. Schlow Centre Region Library, Meeting Room
Program: Our guest speaker will be Frank Haas, who will talk about his trip to Adak, Alaska.

November 12, 2006 (Sunday)
** Field Trip: Bald Eagle State Park: Waterfowl, Winter Hawks, Bald Eagles
7:30 a.m. to noon
Meet at the Omega Bank at the Westerly Parkway shopping center by 7:30 a.m. for carpooling over to the McDonald's restaurant near the I-80 Milesburg exit at 8 a.m. The group will then visit Curtin Wetland, Upper Green's Run, and various locations in Bald Eagle State Park.

Program: Our guest speaker will be Fran MacEachren, who will talk about Birding in the Charleston, South Carolina area.

December 13, 2006 (Wednesday)
Regular Meeting
7:00 p.m. State College Municipal Building, Room 201
Program: Our guest speaker will be Eva Pendleton, Senior Research Associate at Penn State, who will talk about Avian Flu and its affects on birds.
Anyone who comes is welcome to bring a holiday snack to share after the program.
