2015 Fall Calendar for meetings and field trips

Further details of all 2015 field trips will be posted to the State College Bird Club listserv group.

Unless otherwise noted, all regular meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room in the Community Building in the Foxdale Village Retirement Community.

Details of local field trips will be announced on the scbirdcl e-mail list.

Program: Our guest speaker will be Emily Bellush who will give a program entitled “Golden-winged Warbler Ecology and Conservation: A Focus on Pennsylvania’s Private Forest Lands”.

Program: Our guest speaker will be Abigail Barenblitt who will give a program entitled "Shaking a tail feather: The courtship behavior of Satin Bowerbirds and Lance-tailed Manakins".

Program: Our guest speaker will be Robyn Graboski who will give a program entitled "Take a walk on the wild side".

Program: Our guest speaker will be Jim Dunn who will give a program entitled "Birding in New Zealand - Preserving Flightless Birds".


Fall Field Trips:

October 3, 2015 (Saturday)
Mike and Laura Jackson will host a tour of their woodland habitat improvement project just south of Everett, PA on Oct. 3 at 10 am.  Anyone interested is welcome to attend, but please call or email them by Oct. 1, as they will provide lunch.  The tour will be in the area that was logged in the fall of 2014 to create early successional habitat for Golden-winged Warblers and other species that depend on young forests.  People should wear field clothes and sturdy shoes.  The tour is rain or shine.

Migration Morning Bird Walks at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center at 7:30 a.m.–9:00 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:
August 26, September 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30

"Registration is not necessary. This program is FREE to all, thanks to the generous support of Wiscoy for Animals."

Early Morning Bird Walks at Millbrook Marsh
Are you an early bird or want to see one? Start your day off right by spending it in the stunning marsh habitat. Walks are open to all ages and levels of experience.
Please dress for the weather and bring your binoculars. In the event of heavy rain, the walk is cancelled.

Arboretum Bird Walks – Fall 2015
Migration is on and the Arboretum at Penn State Avian Education program will host Arboretum bird walks starting Friday September 4. 
Walks start at 8:00 AM and end at 9:30 AM. 
All levels of experience are welcome.
Meet at the Arboretum Pavilion parking area (off Park Avenue across from Law School).
