STATE COLLEGE BIRD CLUB
17 November 2004
The November meeting of the State College Bird Club was held on November 17. President Jim Dunn presided. 29 members and guests met at the State College Borough Building at 7:15. The minutes of the May meeting were read by Deb Grove and approved by members. Dorothy Bordner delivered the Treasurer's Report.
Dorothy Bordner read the checklist: species of birds which were seen between October 28 and November 17. 89 birds were seen. Noted birds were snow butnings and the northern shrike at BESP.
All were urged to join a area Christmas Bird Count. Those close are State College, BESP, Huntingdon, Lake Raystown, Lock Haven, Lewistown, and Culp.
A meeting for the SCBC sponsored Christmas tree at the PSU Festival of the trees will be held November 17. See Roana Fuller for details.
The evening program was presented by Dave Kyler and Deb Grove entitled Birding in South Texas. Dave started on the East Coast and told about several sanctuaries and birds that could be seen at those sites. Deb continued down into the Lower Rio Grande Valley and its many specialties. Dave then began again at Falcon Dam and ended with highlights of Big Bend National Park
