STATE COLLEGE BIRD CLUB
25 May 2005
The May meeting of the State College Bird Club was held on May 25. Vice-President of Programs, Roana Fuller, presided in Jim Dunn's absence. 17 members and guests met at the State College Borough Building at 7:15. The minutes of the April meeting were read by Deb Grove and approved by members. Dorothy Bordner delivered the Treasurer's Report.
Dorothy Bordner read the checklist: 168 species of birds were seen between April 27 and May 25. Noted birds were pectoral sandpiper and black-bellied plovers on Tadpole Rd., 3 American bitterns at Black Moshannon, a blue grosbeak at Dorothy Bordner's, and a Kentucky Warbler at the Lower Trail.
Jack Frank, a local nature photographer, presented a slide program of his bird photography. Some of the slides were from trips to Homer Alaska and Machias Island Maine as well as photos of birds from around the area. He also had notebooks with photos for the audience to look at after the program. His photos were taken with a digital camera with a 600 mm lens.
